Warming

Email warming by EmailPal

How EmailPal warming works on the mailboxes we host and on Google mailboxes you connect: $0.60 per inbox per month, a network of real inboxes at Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo, spam rescue and weekend throttling. Campaign-ready is a flag after 14 days of warming, with the measured inbox rate shown beside it.

What Does Email Warm-up Mean?

A new mailbox has no sending history. Inbox providers treat that as unknown. If you immediately send hundreds of cold emails, the messages land in spam or the mailbox gets blocked.

Warm-up (warming) is the practice of sending a small, increasing amount of mail — and getting replies — so Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo and others learn that the address is a real correspondent. EmailPal runs that process for you against a network of real inboxes at Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo, then uses those accounts' folder reports to show where the mail lands. The mailbox is flagged campaign-ready after 14 days of warming.

Price: $0.60 per inbox per month, for each mailbox EmailPal hosts for you, and for each Google Workspace or Gmail mailbox you connect with an app password from the dashboard. It does not connect to Microsoft 365, Outlook or a mailbox on your own server.

This is not the same SKU as pre-warmed mailboxes. Warming is something you turn on. Pre-warmed is something you lease after we already turned it on.

What EmailPal Warming Is

Warming is a network of real conversations between your mailbox and real inboxes at Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo. Those accounts report whether each message landed in the inbox, the promotions tab or spam. EmailPal shows that evidence as the inbox rate, and uses it to hold a mailbox automatically if placement collapses. It sits beside the campaign-ready flag, which is set after 14 days of warming. Neither is a lock.

What you get for $0.60:

  • Real-provider inboxes, not EmailPal-to-EmailPal loops
  • A daily ramp that starts small (about two a day on a standard / fresh-domain profile, about five on accelerated / aged)
  • Spam rescue when a receiving inbox reports spam — we try to pull the thread back toward the inbox instead of pouring more volume into junk
  • Weekend throttling so Saturday does not look like a weekday blast
  • Automatic holds when placement collapses
  • A dashboard of inbox rate, health score and state (ramping, steady, paused, Slow-Ramp)

Campaign-ready is a calendar flag: it is set once a mailbox has finished 14 days of warming, and straight away on the no-ramp profile. It is not a placement measurement. The standard profile reaches its ceiling after about 14 days. The accelerated profile, for aged domains, starts around 5 a day and reaches the ceiling in about a week, but campaign-ready is still flagged at 14 days. Warming messages top out at 20 a day.

Pre-warmed leases include this warming for free. You do not pay $0.60 on top of $3.

Pricing and Availability

ItemPrice
Warming, per inbox$0.60 / month
Included on pre-warmed leasesYes (do not add $0.60)
Standard profileStarts ~2/day, ceiling after ~14 days
Accelerated profileStarts ~5/day, ceiling after ~7 days (campaign-ready is still flagged at 14 days), for aged domains or mailboxes already sending

Warming is available on every plan. It is optional on hosted mailboxes. It is mandatory-and-included on pre-warmed leases.

Why Use It

  • New domains and new mailboxes are untrusted. Warming is how they become trusted.
  • The campaign-ready flag and the measured inbox rate give you two signals for when to start campaigns, instead of guessing.
  • The same engine runs on every mailbox EmailPal hosts and on every connected Google mailbox, at the same price, whichever domain it sits on.
  • Spam rescue and weekend throttling are part of the $0.60, not a higher tier.

If you cannot wait, lease pre-warmed inventory instead of trying to "warm faster."

How to Enable It

From the dashboard

  1. Sign in. Open Warming, or open a mailbox and turn warming on there.
  2. Pick a profile if you were offered one (standard vs accelerated on aged domains).
  3. Leave it running. Pausing resets progress; see Enable, pause or resume warming.
  4. Watch inbox rate and state. Keep campaign volume low until the mailbox shows campaign-ready and its inbox rate looks healthy.

Over the API or MCP

Warming endpoints live under /api/public/v1/warming. MCP exposes the same controls. Connecting a Google mailbox with an app password is not available through the API or MCP yet, so use the dashboard for that; see Can I warm Gmail, Outlook or my own server?.

Sending Recommendations While Warming

  • Keep campaign volume low until campaign-ready and the inbox rate looks healthy
  • Keep copy varied; identical ramps across a whole domain look automated
  • If state is Slow-Ramp or blocked, fix the cause before adding cold volume. See Troubleshooting failed warmup
  • Warmup messages do not count against your cold-email cap (15 a day per inbox by default, up to 100)
  • Verify the list you will eventually send. A bounce storm right after warming undoes the ramp. How to verify an email list before sending

FAQs

Does warming count against my daily send limit?

No. Warming traffic is separate from the cold-email cap. Campaign sends are what the cold-send cap is talking about: 15 a day per inbox by default, up to 100. Warming messages top out at 20 a day and are counted separately. The recommended setup is 15 cold a day per inbox with warming on, and 5 inboxes per domain. Details: Do warmup emails count toward sending limits?

Can I warm a Gmail or Outlook mailbox I already own?

If it is Google Workspace or Gmail, yes. Connect it with an app password from the dashboard (Mailboxes, Add mailboxes, Bring your own) and turn warming on at $0.60 per inbox per month. It also shows up in Unibox. Mail you send from it leaves through smtp.gmail.com, so EmailPal's IP pools and protections do not apply to it and Google's own limits do. Microsoft 365, Outlook and own-server mailboxes cannot be connected. To warm those, create hosted mailboxes on a domain you own or register. Can I warm Gmail, Outlook or my own server?

When is a mailbox campaign-ready?

The dashboard flags it after 14 days of warming (straight away on the no-ramp profile) and shows the measured inbox rate beside it. Neither is a lock. Details: When is a mailbox ready to send?

Is warming included on pre-warmed inboxes?

Yes, for the life of the lease, at no extra charge.

What is spam rescue?

If a receiving inbox reports spam, EmailPal tries to recover the thread toward the inbox instead of continuing to send into junk. That is part of the $0.60 product.

A warmup bounce disabled warming. Now what?

Fix authentication, credentials or the mailbox, then resume. See Warmup bounce and disabled warmup. Do not keep toggling it on a dead address.

Can I skip warming and send anyway?

You can send from any mailbox that is provisioned. The filters on the other end do not care that you were in a hurry.
