Reply notifications and email alerts
How EmailPal tells you about positive replies, new replies and problems: the bell, notification email (right away or batched), the daily digest, muting a workspace, pausing, and unsubscribing.
Where notifications show up
Everything EmailPal wants you to know about lands in the bell at the top of the dashboard: a positive reply, new replies to your campaigns, a mailbox on hold, a failed payment and so on. Repeats fold into one line while it is unread, for example "New replies (12)".
You can also get them by email, and a daily digest sums up your day. Both are set per person in Settings, Notifications, which you open from the menu under your name. Every member chooses their own, and the settings cover every workspace you are in.
What is emailed by default
| Topic | In the bell | |
|---|---|---|
| Positive replies | On | Right away |
| Campaign replies | On | Batched |
| Other inbox mail | On | Off |
| Sending health | On | Right away, warnings and worse |
| Billing | On | Right away, warnings and worse |
| Campaigns | On | Off |
| Email Pal | On | Off |
| Lists and imports | On | Off |
- Right away emails within about two minutes.
- Batched waits at least ten minutes after the first notice, then sends one email with everything new. After that it emails at most once an hour.
- Everything due for you at the same moment arrives as one email, even across workspaces.
Other inbox mail is mail that arrives in one of your mailboxes and is not a reply to a campaign, for example a reply to a message you sent by hand. Warm-up mail, bounces and spam never count.
Turning a topic off in the bell does not stop its email, and turning its email off does not hide it from the bell.
Read it in one place, read it everywhere
Opening a notice in the bell marks it read. A notice you read before its email goes out is not emailed. A link in an email opens the right workspace for you.
The daily digest
Once a day EmailPal emails you unread Unibox conversations, reminders due and replies scheduled to go out, for each workspace, plus the notices you have not read from the last day. It is skipped on days with nothing to say.
It goes out at 8:00 by default in your workspace's timezone. You can pick another hour and your own timezone in Settings, Notifications, or turn it off.
Mute a workspace or pause email
- Mute a workspace. If you are in several workspaces, switch off email for one under Workspaces. Its notices still show in the bell when you are in it.
- Pause. Stop all notification email for 8 hours, 3 days or a week. Nothing piles up for when the pause ends: notices from the pause stay in the bell only.
- Another address. Send notification email to a different address, such as a shared alerts inbox. Sign-in emails and receipts still go to your sign-in address.
Unsubscribe
Every notification email and digest has a link to turn notification email off. It switches off email for every topic and the digest, and leaves the bell alone. You can turn any of it back on in Settings, Notifications.
Sound
Play a sound for new replies, in the Engage workspace settings, plays a short chime when a reply or positive reply notice arrives while EmailPal is open.
From the API and MCP
The bell and these settings are also in the REST API and the MCP server: GET /notifications, POST /notifications/read, GET /notification-preferences and PUT /notification-preferences, or the tools list_notifications, mark_notifications_read, get_notification_preferences and update_notification_preferences. They act for the person who created the key. MCP server and REST API
FAQs
Why did I not get an email for a positive reply?
Check that Positive replies email is on, that the workspace is not muted and that email is not paused. If you opened the notice in the bell first, no email is sent.
Why does one email cover several replies?
Replies are batched by default so a busy morning is one email, not twenty. Set Campaign replies to Right away if you want each one sooner.
Does muting a workspace mute other members?
No. Notification settings are yours alone.
